Four "terrorists" armed with automatic weapons and hand grenades attacked the Pakistan Naval Station Siddique in Turbat, which led to an intense fire exchange with the security personnel present at the outer wall of the station, Xinhua news agency reported, citing security sources.
According to the sources, the terrorists tried to enter the navy station but they were engaged outside the naval base and were killed during the fire exchange with the security personnel.
Following the killing of the terrorists, the security forces launched a clearance operation at the site.
Additional security personnel rushed to the site, cordoned off the area and conducted a search operation in the region as well.
Some sources said that six terrorists were involved in the attack but official sources had not confirmed. The sources added that the Inter-Services Public Relations, the media wing of the Pakistan army, would release a detailed statement on the incident later.
The banned outfit Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) released a statement to claim the attack.
Due to bitter political relations between the two nations, it’s highly unlikely that India will travel to the country for the mega event.
Moreover, an ICC board member recently revealed that the cricket’s governing body may ponder over alternative options for the smooth conduct of the tournament one of which might be hosting in a hybrid mode.
Notably, the Asia Cup 2023 which was to be held in Pakistan was conducted in a hybrid model for India. As many as nine games out of 13 were shifted to Sri Lanka.
As ICC Champions Trophy 2025 draws closer, there will be more clarity on the ‘hybrid model’ and UAE could well serve as the second location to host the ICC event.
Notably, a total of eight teams will participate in the event and they will be divided into two groups of four each where India’s games could be held in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
Asif Ali Zardari secured 411 votes while Mahmood Khan Achakzai bagged only 181, Geo News reported.
Asif Ali Zardari, 68, is the husband of slain Pakistan prime minister Benazir Bhutto and father of former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Asif Ali Zardari, who served as President from 2008 to 2013, was supported by the coalition government led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
The new president would replace Arif Alvi, whose five-year term ended last year. However, Arif Alvi continued since the new electoral college was not yet formed.
Earlier in the day, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said Asif Ali Zardari, who is a presidential candidate, will once again become president.
In a post on X, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said, "Sardar bana that Zardari, phir sadar banega Zardari. Dam mast Qalandar Zardari."
In the February 8 elections, Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party came second. Independent candidates backed by jailed former prime minister Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won the most seats but failed to get a majority in Parliament.
On Sunday, Shehbaz, 72, comfortably won the election for premiership in the newly-elected Parliament. Shehbaz, the consensus candidate of the PML-N and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), received 201 votes in the 336-member Parliament. His challenger Omar Ayub Khan of Khan's PTI secured only 92 votes.
President Arif Alvi administered the oath to Shehbaz, the 24th elected prime minister in a ceremony held at the Aiwan-i-Sadr, the presidential palace.
The ceremony was attended by the three services chiefs, senior officials, diplomats, leading business people, members of the civil society and media organisations. The caretaker premier Anwaarul Haq Kakar was also present.
The ceremony was also attended by the elder brother of Shehbaz and former three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and other PML-N workers and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah was also present on the occasion.
Shehbaz earlier served as prime minister of a coalition government from April 2022 to August 2023 before Parliament was dissolved to hold general elections last month.
In 2022, Alvi refused to administer the oath to Shehbaz by saying that he was not feeling well when he was elected as premier for the first time after ousting Imran Khan through a vote of no confidence. Then Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani administered the oath to him. It was speculated that Alvi, a senior leader of Imran Khan's PTI may once again skip the official duty but he agreed. The oath-taking ceremony comes days after the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Pakistan Peoples Party agreed on a power-sharing deal to form a coalition government which effectively denied Khan's PTI to stage a comeback.
In the February 8 polls, marred by allegations of vote rigging, the Sharifs-led party failed to garner a clear majority, albeit technically, it is the largest party with 75 out of the 265 contested seats.
Shehbaz, known to be an astute politician and a good administrator, was tasked by his elder brother and former three-time prime minister to negotiate with other like-minded parties on the formation of a coalition government.
Besides the PPP, Shehbaz was backed by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM-P), Pakistan Muslim League (Q), Balochistan Awami Party, Pakistan Muslim League (Z), Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party and the National Party. The new leader should make difficult decisions to undertake to reform the economy of the cash-strapped country and administration.
In his first speech after being voted in, Shehbaz spoke about the struggling economy and said it would require reforms to rid the country of financial difficulties.
He should also mend ties with its neighbours for peace and stability.
He also faces challenges from Khan's party which has promised to keep protesting the alleged manipulation of the February 8 election results.
The security situation of the country has also deteriorated in recent months, with an increase in terror attacks by Pakistan Taliban and other terror groups.
Meanwhile, caretaker Prime Minister Kakar, according to reports, has vacated the Prime Minister House, but he will continue to perform his duties as premier till the issuance of notification of the new chief executive of the country. He has been allotted a house in the Minister's Enclave.
During Shehbaz’s two successive tenures as chief minister of Punjab (2008-2013 and 2013-2018), a network of underpasses, overhead bridges and mass transit systems was introduced in the most populous Punjab province and was completed in record time.
Born in September 1951 in a Punjabi-speaking Kashmiri family in Lahore, Shehbaz did his graduation from the Government College University, Lahore.
His family emigrated from Anantnag in Kashmir for business and settled in the village of Jati Umra in Amritsar district, Punjab at the beginning of the 20th century before moving to Pakistan.
In an editorial piece, the Dawn newspaper commented that since Shehbaz Sharif has chosen to lead, he should demonstrate that his second term will be better than the first.
"He must appoint a cabinet of capable individuals, chosen not for their proximity to the Sharif clan, but for how well-suited they are to manage the portfolios handed to them," it said.
This is not the time to dish out ministries and important offices as payback for political favours, it said.
"It would be a grave miscalculation to continue disregarding this as the new prime minister makes an attempt to lead the nation forward. Mr Sharif will need to show immense courage if he wishes to be remembered well," the editorial concluded.
National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq announced that Shehbaz Sharif bagged 201 votes, Dawn reported.
PTI candidate Omar Ayub Khan secured 92 votes.
Shehbaz Sharif, 72, became the prime minister of the country for the second term.
Earlier, he had served as the Prime Minister from April 11, 2022 to August 14, 2023 after the Imran Khan government lost the no-confidence motion.
Shehbaz Sharif is younger brother of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif who had spearheaded the PML-N's poll campaign.
General elections in the South Asian country were held on February 8, marred by "rigging" and violence.
Even as candidates backed by PTI founder Imran Khan had secured win on most seats, PPP and PML(N) stitching an alliance to form the coalition government, made the way for Shehbaz Sharif to be Prime Minister after Nawaz Sharif stepped aside.
The rains caused several houses to collapse and the rain-triggered landslides blocked roads, particularly in the northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, said the authorities, Xinhua news agency reported.
Around 23 people had been killed in rain-related incidents in KP since Thursday night, while five people died in the southwestern Balochistan province due to flooding, it added.
Five people died in the southwestern Balochistan province after the coastal town of Gwadar got flooded, forcing authorities to use boats to evacuate some 10,000 people.
National Disaster Management Authority said emergency relief was being provided to people in affected areas and heavy machines have been deployed to remove debris blocking highways, Al Jazeera reported.
Landslides have blocked the country's Karakoram Highway, which links Pakistan with China, as per spokesperson for the northern Gilgit Baltistan region, Faizullah Faraq.
Pakistan is among the 10 most vulnerable countries to climate change despite the South Asian nation's almost zero contribution to global carbon emissions, according to the United Nations.
During the 55th regular session of the UN Human Rights Council, India's first secretary said Anupama Singh, rejecting Pakistan's allegations, said the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are an "integral and inalienable part of India".
The Indian diplomat said, "A country that has a truly abysmal human rights record, which institutionalised the systemic persecution of its own minorities, commenting on India, which is demonstrably making great strides in achieving economic progress and social justice, is not merely ironical but perverse."
Anupama Singh said that it is deeply unfortunate for the Council's platform to have once again been "misused" to make patently false accusations against India.
Accusing Pakistan of sponsoring terrorism globally she charged that the country is supporting UNSC-sanctioned terrorists.
The young air hostess with PIA (Pakistan International Airlines) left a ‘thank you’ note and was found missing from her hotel room in Toronto. Raza had landed in Toronto on a flight from Islamabad, but didn’t report to duty on her return flight to Karachi a day later, reported Dawn.
Interestingly, this is the second such disappearance in 2024. Another flight attendant Faiza Mukhtar who had flown to Canada also disappeared and did not board her flight back to Karachi in January. Furthermore, at least 7 flight attendants of the PIA are said to have disappeared after landing in Canada in 2023, the Dawn report stated.
The sudden disappearance of the flight attendants has been attributed to the Islamic Republic’s bad economy and severe job crisis. Surviving on loans from IMF, Pakistan has seen a record brain drain in 2023. Unsure about their future, skilled professionals have been vanishing from Pakistan in hordes.
Moreover, the low salaries of the crew and lingering fear of the airline’s future, are prompting the crew members to escape after landing in Canada. It isn’t unusual for citizens to look for better prospects in foreign countries. Moreover, the flight attendants at least fly out free of cost.
Worth mentioning, Pakistan is seeing record-high inflation because of a tattered economy and political instability.
While fans across India celebrated the birth of Virat and Anushka’s son, celebrations echoed even in Pakistan where Kohli’s fans celebrated the news by distributing sweets.
As per fans in Pakistan, they want Virat’s son Akaay to follow his father’s footsteps one day, just like Arjun Tendulkar is following his father Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar.

Kohli opted out of the first two Tests of the ongoing five-match series against England, citing personal reasons. He later withdrew from the last three Tests also. India are currently leading the five match rubber 2-1.
Notably, Kohli and Anushka are already parents of a three-year-old daughter Vamika.
“With abundant happiness and our hearts full of love, we are pleased to inform everyone that on 15th February, we welcomed our baby boy Akaay & Vamika’s little brother into this world!” Kohli informed in an Instagram post.
Addressing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supporters at the party's central secretariat in Lahore, 74-year-old Sharif said his party respects the mandate of all parties, including the independent candidates backed by Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party.
According to the latest Election Commission data, results of 224 constituencies out of 265 were declared. Independent candidates (mostly supported by PTI) bagged 92 seats while PML-N got 63 and PPP 50. Smaller parties secured 19 seats.
To form a government, a party must win 133 seats out of 265 in the National Assembly. Election to one seat was postponed after the death of a candidate.
Overall, 169 seats are needed to secure a simple majority out of its total 336 seats, which include the reserved slots for women and minorities.
Votes are still being counted after Thursday's general election which was marred by allegations of rigging, sporadic violence and a countrywide mobile phone shutdown.
Changing his stance of not forging any alliance with any party, Sharif on Friday said that there is a need for all the political parties to sit together and form a government to pull Pakistan out of its difficulties.
"We can’t hold elections again and again,” he said. “We were all sitting together yesterday but didn’t address you because the results were not in." "Our party has emerged as single largest winning party in the country after Thursday’s polls. To steer Pakistan out of crises, we want other parties to join hands to form a coalition government,” said Sharif, the three-time former premier. "Our agenda is only a happy Pakistan and you know what we have done before." He said that all the institutions should together play a positive role in bringing Pakistan out of this crisis.
"Everyone should sit in harmony and bring Pakistan out of the difficulties," he said in his address which he described as a "victory speech".
Without naming Imran Khan, Sharif said: “Those who are in a mood to fight, I want to tell them that Pakistan cannot afford this fight. Pakistan needs stability for at least 10 years as this is a matter of the lives of Pakistanis." He further said he wanted to develop cordial relations with neighbouring countries.
Sharif announced that he has tasked his younger brother and PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif to reach out to the Pakistan Peoples' Party's Asif Ali Zardari, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Fazlur Rehman and Muttahida Qaumi Movement's Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui for the formation of a coalition government.
Meanwhile, PPP Co-chairman Zardari has reached Lahore and is likely to meet PML-N leadership regarding the formation of government, according to media reports.
A coalition government led by PML-N had served for 16 months after the ouster of Imran Khan from office in April 2022.
Earlier, PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Khan ruled out forging an alliance with the PPP and PML-N, saying his party is in a position to form a federal government on its own.
He claimed that his party was winning 150 National Assembly seats and would be able to achieve the required number of seats to form government at the Centre.
"We are not intending to form a coalition government with PPP and PML-N," he said. "We will form the government at the Centre and Punjab,” said Gohar Khan, who won NA-10 in the Buner area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. PTI’s former parliament speaker Asad Qaisar also won.
Authorities were earlier moving at a snail's pace to announce the election results that in a surprising development showed Khan's PTI supported independent candidates leading the show.
The ECP started updating results at a faster pace after facing a barrage of criticism by the parties, especially the PTI which accused that its mandate was being stolen.
Khan, 71, a cricketer-turned-politician and the founding chairman of the PTI, is behind bars and barred from contesting. PTI candidates are running as independents after they were not allowed to use the party symbol - a cricket 'bat'.
The polling ended at 5 pm on Thursday but the first official result was announced 10 hours later at 3 am on Friday, irking many about the delay and giving fuel to the rumour mills to indulge speculation of foul play to manipulate the outcome.
PTI claimed that it won the elections while alleging that results were being delayed to rig the outcome.
PML-N leader Ishaq Dar earlier said that the independent candidates, who are emerging victorious in the 2024 general elections, are in contact with the party.
"The independents have contacted us and they will join any party in the next 72 hours as per the Constitution," said the former finance minister.
The caretaker Interior Ministry has said that it had reviewed the media and the public’s concerns about the late processing of the results and attributed it to “lack of communication, which was the outcome of mobile services suspension taken to ensure a peaceful election process.” The long delay in the announcement of results by the ECP created a lot of confusion.
From being arrested to the threats of forced marriage, here are some countries where V-Day celebration poses dangerous threats for lovers.
As one of the major Muslim nations in the Southwest Asia region, in Saudi Arabia, public display of love was prohibited. However, with the change in their religious head now young people can celebrate this festival legally.
With a long history and diverse culture, this Islam-dominated country was celebrating Valentine's Day until 2012, when there was an internal decree banning the celebration of V-Day. Instead, they celebrate the birthday of Babur, a Mughal emperor and the country's hero.
Although V-Day is not banned in legal terms in Indonesia, in some parts of the country where they have radical Muslim views, the celebration of V-Day is outright banned.
This Islamic country known for its religious clerics has banned the production of all gift items for V-Day, with a viewpoint stating this celebration is a spread of Western culture.
Although University students and flower vendors support the celebration of V-Day, in 2018, it was banned after a private citizen petitioned the Islamabad High Court.
Issuing a fatwa or religious ruling in 2005, Malaysian authorities have prohibited the celebration of Valentine's Day, stating this is a way to cause moral decay and bring disaster. People who celebrate it may get arrested.

The polling began at 8:00 a.m. local time and will end at 5 p.m.
Minutes before polling began, mobile internet services were temporarily suspended across the country, Dawn reported.
"The step has been taken due to recent surge in terrorist activities," the country's interior ministry said,
Islamabad police said security is in place and polling stations are being manned since Wednesday morning.
Polling for the four provincial assemblies is being held on the same day.
Over 128 million people, or more than half of the country's total population, are eligible to vote in the general elections.
Elections were to be held for 266 seats in the lower house, but the elections for one of the seats had been postponed due to the death of a candidate, according to the ECP.
The incident took place at Chodwan police station in Daraban tehsil in Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a senior police official in Dera Ismail Khan division said.
No outfit has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
“We lost 10 of our jawans, while six others were injured in the ambush carried out by heavily armed terrorists," District Police Officer Nasir Mehmood said.
The terrorists attacked the police station from all sides with grenades and heavy gunfire. The police also retaliated, but the terrorists managed to escape, police said.
The forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation, while the quick response force has reached with additional force, they said.
The attack added to the security concerns surrounding the general elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces which have been hit by poll violence and terror strikes in recent days.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa caretaker chief minister Arshad Hussain condemned the attack on the police station and expressed condolences to the family members of the victims.
The resolve of police against terrorism can not be deterred through such acts of cowardice, he said.
As per Arthur, this insecurity has led to a shift in focus towards individual positions and contracts, rather than fostering a strong team structure. In a recent interview, Arthur revealed about his tenure with the Pakistan cricket team. He expressed his disappointment with the current state of affairs.
“When there is security within the environment, Pakistan is very good. When there is that insecurity, players start playing for themselves instead of the team because they are thinking of the next tour, and the next contract. That is a dangerous place to be in, and that is kind of where Pakistan cricket is now. And that is something very disappointing and sad for me,” said Arthur during the interview.
“There is a massive amount of talent there. There are some world-class players, not just talented players. However, they are not given the support structure that they need to flourish,” he added.
Notably, Pakistan’s performance in international cricket has been currently pretty dismal. Arthur has expressed his disappointment over the state of cricket affairs in the country.
“I still follow Pakistan cricket and I’ll always follow it. But the vigour and thirst and passion I have for Pakistan cricket waned a little bit after that. To be brutally honest, I think Pakistan cricket is in a very disappointing state,” said Arthur.
However, fans across the globe are eager to know whether the Indian cricket team will travel to Pakistan for the upcoming marquee event or not?
Team India had the last bilateral visit to Pakistan in 2006. Subsequently, political tensions between both the nations hindered subsequent tours. Since the 2013 ODI series in India, encounters between India and Pakistan have been confined to ICC events and the Asia Cup only.
With a recent development, it seems that there is a ray of possibility for the Indian team visiting Pakistan for Champions Trophy. The Indian government has approved the travel of the Davis Cup team to Pakistan after more than 60 years, overcoming security concerns.
The historic moment provides a potential precedent for the Indian cricket team’s participation in the 2025 Champions Trophy.
While the Pakistan cricket team visited India for the 2016 T20 World Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup, the Indian cricket team opted not to travel to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup, playing its matches in Sri Lanka.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad said that forces carried out "a series of highly coordinated and specifically targeted precision military strikes and killed a number of terrorists during the intelligence-based operation codenamed ‘Marg Bar Sarmachar'", Dawn news reported.
A security official told Xinhua news agency that "all targets were hit precisely".
"We hit the confirmed terrorists. In our view all terrorists are our targets irrespective of race, ethnicity, religion, or sect," the official added.
On Tuesday, Iranian strikes in the border town of Panjgur in Balochistan led to the alleged deaths of two children.
Tehran claimed the strikes were aimed at Jaish al-Adl terrorist group based in the town and denied that Pakistani civilians were killed.
In response, Islamabad warned Tehran of "serious consequences" for the "illegal" action, banned Iran's ambassador from returning to the country and also withdrew its own envoy from Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the Ministry statement also said that “over the last several years, in our engagements with Iran, Pakistan has consistently shared its serious concerns about the safe havens and sanctuaries enjoyed by Pakistani origin terrorists calling themselves Sarmachars on the ungoverned spaces inside Iran".
"Pakistan also shared multiple dossiers with concrete evidence of the presence and activities of these terrorists. However, because of lack of action on our serious concerns, these so-called Sarmachars continued to spill the blood of innocent Pakistanis with impunity.
"This morning’s action was taken in light of credible intelligence of impending large-scale terrorist activities by these so called Sarmachars. This action is a manifestation of Pakistan’s unflinching resolve to protect and defend its national security against all threats.
"The successful execution of this highly complex operation is also a testimony to the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces. Pakistan will continue to take all necessary steps to preserve the safety and security of its people which is sacrosanct, inviolable and sacred,” the statement added.
Iranian media has claimed that seven people were killed as a result of Pakistan's strikes, reports Xinhua news agency.
Alireza Marhamati, Sistan-o-Baluchistan's deputy governor for security and law enforcement, told Iran's official news agency IRNA that the victims were foreign nationals
After the conclusion of the third T20 match against NZ in Dunedin, Babar Azam became the first Asian Batsman to register three fifty-plus scores in a losing cause.
During the third T20, New Zealand were asked to bat and they just demolished the bowling attack of Pakistan where most of damage was done by Finn Allen as he went on to score 137 of 62 balls which included 16 sixes.
After posting a huge score of 225 runs, Pakistan didn’t show any intent with the bat as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Babar Azam was only batsman to score runs and was the only shining light in this ongoing T20 series.
However, the social media went on to troll the Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf after conceding over 50 runs in three overs.
‘’Haris Rauf went for 51 off his first 15 balls today, fastest fifty by a Pakistan bowler in T20Is,’’ one user wrote.
‘’Fastest 50 of the Career for Haris Rauf in just 15 balls,” wrote another user on social media.
In their last 13 T20 Internationals, Pakistan have won only two matches and lost 11. The next two matches against NZ in the five match series will be played at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
Significant bases belonging to the Jaysh al-Dhulm (Jeysh al-Adl) terrorist group on Pakistani soil were destroyed on Tuesday, Tasnim news agency reported, adding that these bases were "specifically targeted and successfully demolished" by a combination of missile and drone attacks.
The focal point of this operation was the region known as Kouh-Sabz (green mountain) in the Balochistan province of Pakistan, recognized as one of the largest hubs for the Jeysh al-Dhulm militants, the Iranian news agency reported.
According to Iranian media, the terrorist group was responsible for the attack on a police station last month in Sistan and Balouchestan province's city of Rask, southeast of Iran, which resulted in the martyrdom of 11 Iranian Police forces.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that two children were killed and three girls were injured in the country due to Iran's violation of Pakistan's airspace.
Pakistan strongly condemns the "unprovoked violation" of its airspace by Iran, the ministry said in a statement, adding that this violation of its sovereignty is "completely unacceptable and can have serious consequences", Xinhua news agency reported.
Pakistan's strong protest has already been lodged with the concerned senior official in the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran, said the statement.
It is even more concerning that this illegal act has taken place despite the existence of several channels of communication between Pakistan and Iran, it added.
Additionally, the Iranian charge d'affaires has been called to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry to convey Pakistan's strongest condemnation of this blatant violation of its sovereignty and that the "responsibility for the consequences will lie squarely with Iran," the statement said.
Pakistan has always said terrorism is a common threat to all countries in the region that requires coordinated action, said the statement.
"Such unilateral acts are not in conformity with good neighbourly relations and can seriously undermine bilateral trust and confidence," the statement said.
Iranian media on Tuesday reported that Iran "obliterated two key strongholds" of a terror group in Pakistan through precision missile and drone strikes.
More than 2,950 people were killed in the attack which is considered as one of the deadliest terrorist attacks on the United States of America.
Since then, many things changed for people with Muslim surnames. They were frisked like anything at airports.
People's anger against terrorists and countries supporting them also started brewing. And, that's the reason that even today innocent people have to face humiliation just like what Pakistani actress Saba Qamar recently explained and couldn't hold back her tears during an interview.
Speaking on why Pakistanis are made to go through embarrassing security checks, Saba Qamar said, “The way we raise slogans in the name of ‘Pakistan’ with patriotic spirit, the scenario is totally opposite once we step outside. Mostly, at the airports, I feel humiliated while they frisk us.”
Recalling her embarassing experience at an airport, Saba said, “I went to Georgia and during the checking process at the airport, my crew who were Indian allowed to go but I wasn’t allowed. As I am from Pakistan, frisking and investigation were done. After the completion of all the protocols, I was allowed to go."
Towards the conclusion of the clip, Saba questioned the position of her country, Pakistan.
The video was shared on the X (formerly Twitter) handle of Radhika Chaudhary with a sarcastic caption, “Pakistani actress Saba Qamar cries on television for the check on the airport. Jinnah created Pakistan so that the whole world could laugh at it. Thank you Jinnah. (SIC)
Netizens left their hilarious remarks in the comments section as one user wrote, “Terrorist ko to check karna padega na” while another user wrote, “Sab ke sab deheshatgard hai sale.”
The video has so far garnered 12.4K views. WATCH the video below:

The bizarre delivery of Shaheen has caused mayhem on social media with cricket lovers roasting him. Fans cannot accept the fact that the new captain of Pakistan, touted to be the best bowler was smashed for two 6s and three boundaries in an over.
“Captaincy will not be an easy task for Shaheen Afridi. There are question marks over his own performances and it is a difficult decision to be captain at this stage replacing Babar. Having a star tag with Shaheen is an added burden. #NZvPAK,” a fan commented.

To make things worse for the team, Babar Azam missed an extremely easy catch during the T20I encounter. Kane Williamson miscued a shot off the bowling of Abbas Afridi and the ball went straight towards Babar at mid-on.
However, Babar misjudged the easy catch and ended up wasting a chance. As expected, social media users brutally trolled him for the missed opportunity.
Worth mentioning, Pakistan won the toss and their new captain Shaheen Afridi asked New Zealand to bat first.
However, former India pacer Praveen Kumar made a rather outrageous claim on the art of reverse swing, with special context to former Pakistan pacers.
While refraining from naming any particular bowler, Praveen asserted that ball tampering was a common practice employed to induce reverse swing, and this knowledge was widespread within cricketing circles.
“Everyone does a little bit. Pakistan bowlers do it a bit more. That is what I have heard. Now, there are cameras everywhere. Earlier, all used to do it. And everyone knows as well. They would scratch it from one side, but one must know how to use that skill, too. If I scratch the ball and give to someone, one must have the skills to reverse-swing it. One has to learn that,” said Praveen.
Notably, the art of reverse swing has faded, particularly in the white-ball formats, due to the introduction of two new balls from either end.
The ‘Men in Blue’ will look forward to lifting the trophy. But, more than the Final match, fans are super excited to see the India vs Pakistan clash. Nothing can match the hype of an India vs Pakistan World Cup clash.
Cricket fans of both countries are desperately waiting for the next match where the two teams will face each other. Meanwhile, a report suggests that India and Pakistan will clash with each other on June 9 in New York in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Although ICC or BCCI have not officially announced anything, fans have made the calculations and are sure that India are scheduled to face Pakistan on June 9 in New York. Moreover, the report also reveals that India will kick off its T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against Ireland on June 5.
If India qualifies for the Super 8 stage, they are expected to play their group games in the USA and subsequently move to the West Indies for the Super 8 matches. The Indian team, which has lifted the T20 World Cup under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, is gearing up for an exciting tournament.
India will begin the tournament with a clash with Ireland on June 5. Just four days later, the big clash between India and Pakistan will take place before India meet USA on June 12 in New York.
Schedule for India in the group stages:
1. India vs Ireland on June 5 (New York)
2. India vs Pakistan on June 9 (New York)
3. India vs USA on June 12 (New York)
4. India vs Canada on June 15 (Canada)
Just two years earlier, in 1987, a 14-year-old Sachin had come on to field for a Pakistan team that was playing a festival match against India in Mumbai. The Master Blaster wonders in his book if the then Pakistan captain Imran Khan remembers employing him in the field or not.
When Pakistan cricketers Javed Miandad and Abdul Qadir left the field during the lunch break, Sachin was one of two local lads asked to field for the visiting team.
In that match, Sachin nearly caught star all-rounder Kapil Dev out in the match. However, he couldn’t get to the ball despite running a long way. He notes that if he had been placed at mid-on rather than long-on, he could have taken part in a dismissal for Pakistan.
“I don’t know whether Imran Khan remembers this or has any idea that I once fielded for his Pakistan team,” Sachin wrote on his autobiography.
Meanwhile, a video of Mahi is going viral in which he can be seen suggesting a fan travel to Pakistan to taste some of the best cuisines. However, the fan’s reply leaves Dhoni in splits. Dhoni, who visited Pakistan as part of the India squad praised Pakistani cuisine, said, “You should go to Pakistan, they have the best food.”
However, his fan wasn’t convinced and his reply left Dhoni in splits. “I’m not going there even if you suggest good food. I love food, but I won’t go there,” the fan responded. The fan’s answer left Dhoni in splits who again says, “But, Pakistan indeed has some good food.”

Putting aside the enmity between the two neighbouring nations, MS Dhoni fans also agreed with the opinion of Thala.
“Forget India-Pakistan for a while, I agree with Thala on this. They have some best food,” a fan wrote.
Another fan wrote, “If Thala says so, then it must be true. But, there is no difference in food between India and Pakistan. It’s all the same.”
Meanwhile, the iconic jersey no 7 has been retired from cricket in due respect for Mahendra Singh Dhoni, for his contribution to the gentleman’s game.
“Pakistan has received a request from the Indian authorities, seeking extradition of Hafiz Saeed in a so-called money laundering case,” Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said in a statement, Geo News reported.
However, there might be no plans to follow up on India’s request, as "no bilateral extradition treaty exists between Pakistan and India", she added.
India blames Saeed for being involved in attacks across the borders, however, the chief of the banned outfit has denied all claims.
A Pakistani court had sentenced Saeed, founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), the armed group blamed by the US and India for the 26/12 Mumbai attack, to 31 years in prison in two cases of terrorism financing.
In the first test, Babar managed to score 14 and 21 in both the innings and Australia defeated Pakistan by 360 runs and won the Perth test.
In the second test at the MCG, Babar got bowled from a delivery by Pat Cummins where the ball swung between his bat and pad and he got dismissed scoring just one run.
With the pressure of bringing more runs to the scoreboard, Babar managed to score 41 runs until a delivery from Hazlewood.
Hazlewood’s delivery restricted Babar at 41 as he got bowled in the same manner as the ball made it to the stump through the pad-bat gap.
After getting bowled for the second time in the match, memes on the Pakistani batsman started flooding the internet.
The netizens started trolling Babar with creative memes due to his failure in the innings.
The video was shared on the official X (formerly twitter) handle of cricketcomau.
Some users targeted Babar and sarcastically wrote, “He will only score with countries like Nepal and Zimbabwe.” Another user commented, “That’s the best king Babar can get.”

The actress has once again come to spotlight after she stated that she doesn’t feel safe in Karachi, Pakistan. She has expressed concern about the safety of women in Pakistan. She revealed how she had been mugged twice and has the constant free of being kidnapped, raped or mugged.
“Freedom and safety are a basic human need which is not here. I don’t feel safe here,” the stunning diva was quoted as saying by Geo News.
Speaking during a podcast, Ayesha stated, “I want to walk on the road, as it is every human’s need to go out for fresh air. I want to cycle but why can’t I do it?”
She further added that women in Pakistan do not feel safe to go out. The only time women could go outside was during the Covid-19 lockdown.
“I feel stressed and anxious in Karachi and I just don’t feel safe, and I don’t think many women do. Men can never understand what Pakistani women grow up with no matter how hard you try. The fear a woman faces in this country cannot be understood by a man. You feel anxious every second,” she further stated.
“You are not even safe in your home. Crime happens in every country but you can still go out and walk freely. I can’t even go to a park in Pakistan without being harassed,” she added.
During the podcast, she revealed that her brother has left Pakistan and shifted to Denmark and her mother is also planning to move out soon.
The first of the buzz started in Mumbai on Sunday evening, but police and intel circles denied any such thing, though they assured that there is constant monitoring of all these types of reports emanating from neigbouring country.
On Monday morning, the Pakistani media has apparently got on to it, with certain social media posts claiming that Internet, Facebook, X, etc were allegedly down after the reports on Kaskar’s critical health cropped up on Sunday, and how he was reportedly battling for life in a Karachi hospital.
Police and intelligence officials in Mumbai and New Delhi have so far kept mum on the situation claiming there are many such reports which keep surfacing regularly, but most are false alarms.
Considered the most wanted terrorist here, India wants to lay its hands on Kaskar for involvement in multiple crimes, terror acts, narcotics, etc. in Mumbai and elsewhere, plus, also as 'a political trophy'.
The prime cases for which India wants him include the March 12, 1993 Mumbai serial blasts -- ranked the worst-ever terror strike in India -- which claimed 267 people, much higher than the 166 who were killed in the terror attacks of November 26, 2008, that hit the country's commercial capital.
According to the statements of his arrested brothers to Maharashtra Police, it was confirmed around seven years ago that Dawood was a permanent resident of Karachi, living in a palatial bungalow in the posh Sadar suburb, under high security.
However, he had been under depression for the past few years after his third child and sole son Moin Nawaz (37), opted for a life of spirituality to become a Maulana-cum-preacher -- leaving question marks on his notorious dad Dawood’s empire and legacy.
The main drivers of the inflation were food items, especially sugar, pulses, eggs and rice, which saw sharp increases in their prices over the year, The News reported.
The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) inched down by 0.06 per cent week-on-week, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
This was the highest level since the week ending June 1, when the SPI inflation was 43.17 per cent, The News reported.
It was also the fifth consecutive week that the SPI inflation stayed above 40 per cent. For the week ending November 16, SPI was at 41.9 per cent, November 23 (41.13 per cent), November 30 (41.06 per cent), December 7 (42.68 per cent), and now at 43.16 per cent.
The country is facing severe inflationary pressures.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) earlier this week kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged at a record high of 22 percent, as it awaited signs of easing inflation pressures after a recent hike in gas prices, The News reported.
In response to high inflation, the SBP has increased interest rates by a total of 15 percentage points during the last two years.
In the upcoming 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, the high-octane clash between India and Pakistan will be held in New York. The cricketing rivalry between these two Asian Giants is unmatched in cricket as fans enjoy every bit when these two play in International cricket.
According to sources, the T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan will take place at a temporary stadium with a seating capacity of 34,000, which is expected to be constructed on the outskirts of New York.
According to reports, Central Broward Park in Florida USA, Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas, and Eisenhower Park on Long Island, which is around 25 miles from downtown Manhattan, are the only three locations confirmed to host T20 World Cup matches in 2024.
Talking about the rivalry of India Vs Pakistan in the T20 World Cups, India defeated Pakistan in the last encounter between the two sides in World T20 2022, Melbourne. Virat Kohli's amazing knock of 82 was instrumental and India won a nail-biter game against the arch-rivals.
The 2024 World T20 is scheduled to be played in the United States and West Indies from June 4 to 30.
The woman has been identified as Javeria Khanum, a resident of Karachi. As per reports, the couple’s marriage has been fixed in January next year. She crossed over into the Indian side from Attari in the Amritsar district where she was welcomed by her fiancé Sameer Khan and other members of his family to the beats of ‘dhol’, music, and dance.
According to reports, Sameer Khan happened to see Javeria for the first time on his mother’s phone five years back. Immediately, he fell in love after seeing her photo and expressed his interest in marrying her. Soon, they started chatting online and their relationship blossomed into love.
“This started in May 2018. I had come home from Germany where I was studying. I saw her photo on my mother’s phone and expressed interest in marrying her and told my mother,” Sameer informed.
Javeria had been applying for a visa to come to India even before the pandemic. However, her visa applications had been rejected twice. However, she got lucky the third time.
“I have been granted a 45-day visa. I am very happy to be here. Just on arrival, I am already getting so much love here. In the first week of January, the marriage will be solemnized,” Javeria was quoted as saying by NDTV.
“I’m very thankful to the Indian government for the visa. My mother is very happy now that I will be finally getting married,” Sameer added.
He further added that friends from his college in Germany, mostly from Africa, Spain, the United States, and other countries are likely to attend his wedding which will be solemnized in Kolkata.
However, a woman from Pakistan has gained the undivided attention of netizens by opening up about her profession.
Have you ever heard of a beggar owning lavish flats, cars and properties in foreign countries? Yes, it might sound absurd, but Laiba, a woman from Pakistan has claimed that she became rich and now owns a fortune abroad, by begging.
In an interview, which has surfaced on the internet, Laiba spilled her beans on how she gained the fortune. “I often come to Pakistan whenever I find time. I usually live in Malaysia and own two flats, cars and have a business,” said Laiba.
When the interviewer asked Laiba how she became so rich, Laiba without any hesitation, answered ‘Bheek mang ke’ (by begging).
She continued: "I always wanted to be rich and then I started begging. I stood near traffic squares and started begging. I even narrated fake stores which helped me get more money from people easily. Right now, I am living a lavish life in Malaysia."

Under Babar’s leadership, Pakistan lost five out of their nine matches and failed to qualify for the semifinals. The star batsman himself did not also have a great outing in the tournament as he could manage to score only 320 runs from nine matches.
Babar came under severe pressure from both experts and fans regarding his leadership skills and his lack of form. Currently, Shadab Khan was the vice-captain of Pakistan’s World Cup team. Speedster Shaheen Afridi is among the probable names to take over the mantle from Babar.
“I vividly remember the moment when I received the call from PCB to lead Pakistan in 2019. Over the past four years, I’ve experienced many highs and lows on and off the field, but I wholeheartedly and passionately aimed to maintain Pakistan’s pride and respect in the cricket world. Reaching the number 1 spot in the white-ball format was a result of the collective efforts of players, coaches, and management but I’d like to express my gratitude to passionate Pakistan cricket fans for their unwavering support during this journey. Today, I am stepping down as the captain of Pakistan in all formats. It’s a difficult decision but I feel it is a right time for this call,” Babar wrote on social media platform X (earlier known as Twitter).
“I will continue to represent Pakistan as a player in all three formats. I am here to support the new captain and the team with my experience and dedication. I want to express my sincere thanks to the Pakistan Cricket Board for entrusting me with this significant responsibility. PAKISTAN ZINDABAD,” he added.
However, much to their disappointment, the bubbly actress, termed the batsman as ‘bhai’.
Pakistan cricket fans, usually known for trending ‘dumb’ hastags online were left red-faced, thanks to the actress’ prompt reply that shut down the trolls without any further delay.
The actress’ immediate reply to shut down the bizarre relationship rumours has left Indian fans rejoicing as Hania enjoys a huge fan base in India too.
The speculation began after a Babar Azam fan shared an edited video on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Only hania can give takar to anushka#Hania https://t.co/YqViR2l4Ju
— Fariha 🧚🏻♀ (@flory4040) November 12, 2023
In an interview, Hania, on a lighter note, had revealed that Babar Azam was cute. Similarly, Babar also stated that he would like to act in a movie with Hania if given a chance.
The fan merged both the videos together and shared it on X that promptly went viral with fans of the both celebrities flooding the internet with hastags, fan arts, and edited videos, leading to virtual matchmaking.
Many even compared them to be the Virat and Anushka Sharma of Pakistan. However, Indian fans were quick to react and wrote, “Babar can never in a hundred years pull her.”
Later, fans dug out a post of Hania Amir where she wrote that Babar is like her ‘bhai’, thus putting all the speculations to rest.
For the unversed, Hania is known for her dramas like ‘Mere Humsafar’, ‘Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha’, ‘Ishqiya’, ‘Sang-e-Mah’, ‘Dil Ruba’, and ‘Anaa’.
On the other hand, Babar is reportedly going to step down as the captain of Pakistan after the team’s under performance in the ODI Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
Launching a scathing attack on Babar, former Pakistan speedster Mohammad Amir said that captaincy matters more than what the members of the PCB management comprises of.
“Captaincy does matter. What is the system? It is not a wall. Five and six people have been given responsibility to run the Pakistan cricket. A captain is also one of them,” said Amir during a television show.
In a bid to explain his point on the impact of a good captain, Amir did not miss out on the legendary MS Dhoni and his role in Ravindra Jadeja turning out to be one of the leading all-rounders across formats.
“We say Dhoni changed India’s cricket, but he never changed the system. People kept saying that for how long will he keep giving Jadeja and Ashwin chances. And now we say Jadeja is World’s best all-rounder. MS Dhoni has given them the team,” said Amir.
While some Indian fans enjoyed Sehwag’s witty posts, some other netizens questioned him the reason behind trolling Pakistan cricket team and fans so often. In response, the former India opener came up with an explanation on why he doesn’t leave a chance to troll the neighbouring country’s cricket team and fans.
“In the 21st century there have been 6 ODI world cups. In 6 attempts, only once in 2007 did we not qualify for the semi-finals and have qualified in 5 of the last 6 World cups. On the other hand only once have Pakistan qualified for the semis in 6 attempts in 2011. And they come up with ridiculous allegations blaming ICC and BCCI of changing balls and pitch,” Sehwag wrote on X (earlier known as Twitter).
“Their Prime Minister mocks us when we lose to another team despite having beaten them. Upon reaching here, their player posts pictures of enjoying tea in Hyderabad with sarcasm to mock our soldier. The PCB chief on camera refers to our country as Dushman Mulk. And they expect love for their hate. And those preaching class, that is a two way street. Jo Achha vyavhar kare uske saath hum bahut hi achhe, aur jo aisa vyavhar kare toh sahi mauke par soot samet lautana is my way. On field bhi, off-field bhi,” the post further read.

Sehwag’s post has reportedly gone viral within no time. It has garnered more than 1.4 M views and 44k likes so far.
For the miracle to happen, they need to win the toss and bat first and win by a margin of 287 runs or 288 runs. For that, they need to score in excess of 400 in order to have a realistic chance. Even if they score 400, they have to bowl out England for 112.
On the other hand, if they bowl first, their chances are next to impossible. Even if they bowl out England for 100, they need to chase down the total in 2.5 overs.
Meanwhile, social media has been filled with hilarious memes and funny jokes about Pakistan departing to Karachi. Interestingly, Indian-origin South Africa star batsman Keshav Maharaj (OTV cannot verify the authenticity of the user) took a sly dig at Pakistan through a hilarious tweet that has now gone viral.

In a tweet, Keshav shared a picture of Babar along with an air ticket from Kolkata to Karachi and wrote, “Bye Bye, Pakistan 👋 #CWC23 Jai shree Ram 🕉🚩.”
The likely exit of the arch-rivals from the World Cup has fans celebrating with Indian-origin Keshav Maharaj being no different. Being an Indian by blood, Keshav clearly knows the mood of the nation and seems to be a part of the celebration.
His tweet has garnered hilarious reactions from Indian fans who also joined Keshav to troll the Babar Azam team.
“No direct flight to Pakistan from India. They need to go via Dubai,” commented a user. Another user wrote, “Hahaha… Abhi Sehwag ka zakhm bhara nahin tha ki aap bhi aa gaye.”
Earlier, veteran batsman Virender Sehwag had brutally trolled the Pakistan team and wrote, “Pakistan Zindabhaag! Have a safe flight back home.”
Pakistan ki khaas baat hai ki jis team ko Pakistan support karti hai, woh team Pakistan ki tarah khelne lagti hai 😂.

“Pakistan ki khaas baat hai ki jis team ko Pakistan support karti hai, who team bhi Pakistan ki tarah khelne lagti hai. Sorry Sri Lanka,” he further added.
On the other hand, Pakistan is confident of beating England as Babar said, “It’s in our mind and we will try to do it. We will try to execute our plans and how we will achieve the target.”
Pakistan are currently placed at the fifth position in the points table with eight points from as many matches. The Green Army will lock horns with Kolkata on Saturday. They will have to win by 287 runs if they bat first. If they chase, Pakistan will have to win with 284 balls -- more than 47 overs to spare to have any chance for the semifinals.
As per several experts, with all odds stacked against Pakistan, New Zealand are expected to meet India in the first semifinal to be played at the Wankhede Stadium on November 15.
While, India, South Africa and Australia have already sealed their spots in the final four, New Zealand now have one foot into the knockout stage after their robust victory over Sri Lanka.
Recently, Sehwag left the netizens laughing as he mocked Pakistan with a post which went viral. The former great took a dig at Babar Azam-and Co as they are on the edge of getting eliminated from the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
Sehwag, who is known for his witty remarks, took to social media platform X (earlier known as Twitter) to troll the neighbouring country.
“Pakistan Zindabhaag! Have a safe flight back home,” tweeted Sehwag.

“Pakistan didn’t get opportunity to play with his father in Semis,” wrote a fan.
“Pakistan qualify for Karachi bus stand,” tweeted another fan.
Responding to Sehwag’s post, a third user commented, “No more free Biryani.”
Nothing can stop them from taking their flight back to Karachi until unless they win against England in their upcoming match. However, they will have to win by 287 runs if they bat first and if they chase they will have to win with 284 balls.
So, it looks almost impossible for the Pakistani team to reach the semifinal. Now, hilarious memes are flooding social media after Pakistan was ‘knocked out’ of the World Cup. Indians posted memes that will leave everyone ROFL.

Meanwhile, India, South Africa and Australia have already sealed their spots in the final four. Now, New Zealand have also put one foot forward into the semifinals after their victory over Sri Lanka.
On the other hand, Pakistan which is currently in the fifth position will take on England on Saturday.
It is expected that the rain will continue till 5PM and in the worst scenario, there could be a washout. A yellow alert has been forecasted accompanied by thunderstorms till November 10. The rain has been going on in the IT Hub for the last three to four days.
Although Chinnaswamy Stadium is equipped with one of the best drainage facilities and can be ready for action within half an hour of rainfall, it is raining relentlessly and there are no signs of stopping now.
What will happen if there is a washout? Will Pakistan qualify for the World Cup semifinals? Will there be a significant consequences in the World Cup points table?
Well, these are the many questions that are cropping up in the mind of every cricket lovers today.
If New Zealand and the Sri Lanka match is a washout, both will share points. New Zealand will be stuck with 9 points while Sri Lanka will be at 5. It is very well known that Sri Lanka has no chance of making it to the Semifinals, but the washout would severely dent New Zealand’s chances of qualifying for the semifinals.
Even as the New Zealand team started off the World Cup tournament with four wins in a row, they later ended up losing as many after that. Now, they desperately need to win against Sri Lanka to reach 10 points and qualify as the fourth-ranked side.
However, the washout would provide a golden opportunity for Pakistan to sneak into the semi-finals. Currently, Pakistan have 8 points and are scheduled to clash with England on Sunday. If they beat England, who are already out of the tournament, they will qualify for the semifinals.
Official sources said that Pakistan rangers resorted to unprovoked firing in the Ramgarh and Arnia sectors of J&K.
“One Border Security Force (BSF) trooper sustained injuries. He has been shifted to a hospital for treatment. More details are awaited,” sources said.
The BSF gave a befitting reply to Pakistani rangers, officials said.
"During night intervening 8/9 Nov 2023, Pakistan Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing in Ramgarh area which was befittingly responded by BSF troops," BSF said.
This is the third ceasefire violation by Pakistan rangers on the International Border during the last 10 days.
On October 26 there was a ceasefire violation by Pakistan in the Arnia sector of Jammu. On October 17 Pak Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing towards BSF troops in which two BSF personnel received bullet injuries
Following a renewed ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan in February 2021, there has been a relative calm on the borders. But in the recent past, incidents of violation have been reported from the Pakistan side. There have been infiltration bids which were foiled and several cases of weapons droppings for terrorists using drones.

Amid the chaos, Babar has found himself in the spotlight for a surprising reason ahead of Pakistan’s crucial match against New Zealand.
As per reports, beleaguered Babar splurged on a whopping seven lakh rupees on a designer sherwani, a traditional Indian outfit, for his upcoming wedding. He purchased the designer sherwani at a renowned Indian designer’s boutique- Sabyasachi, known for their exquisite bridal and groom wear. Babar’s wedding is scheduled to take place at the end of this year.
It’s rare for a captain to engage in wedding shopping during such an important tournament, raising eyebrows and potential controversy within cricketing circles.
Pakistan are currently occupying the sixth spot on the points table with six points in their kitty. They have so far won only three of their seven matches.
Saturday's doubleheader involving a match between traditional rivals, defending champion England and five-time winners Australia and the other pitting New Zealand against Pakistan could decide the fortunes of all four teams.
Only hosts India, with 14 points from seven wins, have secured their place in the knockout stage with three semifinal spots still up for grabs with several teams in the fray. South Africa, who are placed second with 12 points, needs one win from two matches to cement their hold on the second position.
Australia are placed third in the standings with New Zealand in fourth position, with both teams on eight points from four wins. However, Australia have a match advantage, having played six games as compared to seven by the Black Caps.
New Zealand play Pakistan in a day match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru while England meet Australia in a day/night encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The focus will be on the clash in Ahmedabad between defending champions England, who need to win all of their three remaining matches to have any hope of reaching the semifinals. Australia can put distance on the chasing pack with victory over their archrivals as that would take them to 10 points with two more matches to go.
England have had a horror campaign in their defence of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup trophy that they famously won for the first time in 2019.
Starting with a loss to New Zealand in the opening fixture in Ahmedabad, the titleholders have slumped to five defeats in six matches to be all but out of contention for a spot in the last four. They do have slim chances but even otherwise it will be a mouth-watering clash between the arch-rivals.
England have to win all of their three remaining matches convincingly enough to also boost their net run rate to a reasonable level while hoping that other results go their way to keep their faint hopes alive.
Though on current performance, bets will be in favour of Australia but form counts for little when the two traditional rivals meet and England can like their chances against an Australian outfit suddenly hit hard by a freak injury and more personal concerns.
Australia have won four on the trot to surge into third in the standings and the semifinal places though will take on their old foes without dynamic duo Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh.
Both will be missed though there will also be frustration with Maxwell after he sustained a concussion in a golf cart incident, while Marsh has returned home for personal reasons.
It means another shake-up for the Australia side that has recently accommodated the return of Travis Head, with all-rounders Cameron Green and Marcus Stoinis both putting their hands up for a recall.
England have their own concerns with fitness as well as form and are yet to find an answer for replacing pacer Reece Topley who was one of their few strong performers but has now been ruled out of the tournament.
New Zealand are also facing injury concerns though Mark Chapman (calf), Lockie Ferguson (Achilles), Jimmy Neesham (wrist) and Kane Williamson (thumb) all trained in Bengaluru on Friday. But a decision on their availability will be left until game day and likely confirmed at the toss, the New Zealand team management informed on Friday.
The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 on Friday approved Kyle Jamieson as a replacement for Matt Henry in the New Zealand squad.
Jamieson, who has played 13 ODIs, was named as a replacement after Henry was ruled out due to a right hamstring injury sustained during Wednesday’s match against South Africa in Pune.
The Black Caps need to snap a three-match losing streak to get their campaign back on track and improve their chances of making it to the semifinals.
Pakistan, on the other hand, have suffered four defeats in a row and can't afford to lose any more matches.
Saturday's clash will be a must-win encounter for them as a defeat to New Zealand would all but end their semifinal hopes.
New Zealand would have entered this match as a clear favourite just one week ago, but some injury concerns in the Kiwi camp and a form turnaround from Pakistan means it's difficult to determine who will emerge as the winner.
The victory over Bangladesh has revived Pakistan's hopes. Fakhar torched Bangladesh with a stylish half-century and can again be relied upon to get the Men In Green off to a fast start alongside the reliable Abdullah Shafique.
It will be interesting to see whether Pakistan include another specialist bowler against New Zealand, or continue to call on Iftikhar Ahmed to perform with the ball as he has done reasonably well over the last few games.
Pakistan will be hoping their quicks -– led by freshly crowned No.1 ranked ODI bowler Shaheen Afridi -- can put a massive dent in New Zealand's top order and this battle will go a long way in determining who comes out on top in Bengaluru.
Saturday will be a make-or-break day for these four teams in the World Cup. Will the two matches make the picture clearer?
As per Raza, BCCI or ICC is giving different balls to India to help them with seam and swing movement.
When asked whether there is a foulplay happening in India matches that favours the home team, Raza said that there could be some changes made to the balls with which Indians are bowling and the matter should be investigated.
“The ball is changed when India comes to bowl. Maybe ICC or BCCI is giving a different ball to India. The third umpire has also favoured India in World Cup matches,” said Raza.
After watching the video of the incident going viral over various social media platforms, Former India opener turned expert Aakash Chopra wrote on X (earlier known as Twitter) that this seems like a parody.
“Is it a serious cricket show? If not, please mention ‘satire’ ‘comedy’ in English somewhere. I mean…it might be written in Urdu already but unfortunately, I can’t read/understand it,” wrote Chopra.
The Green Army is facing severe backlash in the mega event and their latest shocker against Afghanistan has fumed several former cricketers and fans. Babar is also on the receiving end with many wanting him to step down from the leadership role.
Recently, many former cricketers including Basit Ali and Shoaib Malik voiced for Babar to leave the captaincy.
While Basit claimed that this should be done for Babar to focus on his batting, Malik claimed that he does not think out of the box but can do wonders as a player.
As per reports, PCB is mulling over a change in leadership with fast bowler Shaheen Afridi among the top contenders to replace the current skipper.
Meanwhile, many experts have claimed that an agenda is going on against World’s top batsman Babar and he will be replaced by Shaheen as the skipper of the team after the World Cup.
As per former Pakistan all-rounder Tanbir Ahmed, he is sure that Babar will be removed as the captain of the team.
“Pakistan has got such a great cricketer in Babar Azam after such a long time. However, an agenda is going on against Babar to pull him down. Everybody knows that Shaheen Afridi will be the next captain of Pakistan. It is being discussed everywhere. Though Sadab Khan is the vice-captain of the team, he will not be the next captain,” said Tanvir in a television show.
