Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were the Vice President of India, Prime Minister and Union Minister for Home Affairs, a communique from the Rashtrapati Bhavan said.
This year, no names were announced for 'Bharat Ratna', India's highest civilian award, which was last awarded in 2019 to former president Pranab Mukherjee, social reformer Nanaji Deshmukh and noted singer Bhupen Hazarika.
President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the Padma Awards for the year 2022 at a special ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.
Apart from Mishra, Padma Vibhushan awards were presented posthumously to former Union Ministers George Fernandes, Arun Jaitley, and Sushma Swaraj.
The pictures from the ceremony have been doing the rounds on social media.
The names have been decided by a committee headed by Deputy CM Manish Sisodia who has examined all the recommendations of a total of 740 medical professionals by 9,427 people in response to Delhi government's appeal for seeking suggestions for the same.
Instituted on January 2, 1954, the awards are given in three categories -- Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. The awards seek to recognize achievements in all activities or disciplines where an element of public service is involved.
