Odisha has witnessed a cumulative deficit of 6% rainfall during this monsoon season so far, the Regional Meteorological Centre of the IMD informed on Sunday.

The Southwest Monsoon has arrived in Odisha, informed regional centre of the India Meteorological Centre on Thursday (June 10).

With the predictions of a low pressure & advancement of Southwest Monsoon during the next 2-3 days, Odisha is likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall between June 10th and 14th.

It has been hardly two weeks since Cyclone Yaas ravaged parts of Odisha, the India Meteorological Centre (IMD) has predicted formation of another low-pressure area over North Bay of Bengal (BoB) around June 11. This may cause the Southwest Monsoon to advance into most parts of Odisha.

While IMD puts a higher probability of above normal rainfall for the period of June - September, APEC Climate Centre predicts above normal rainfall during June to August in the State. District-wise data shows deficient rainfall in western Odisha
