Satellite technology and GIS mapping should be used to study the flood patterns. Mitigation for flood damage would be more appropriate to manage floods rather than attempts to stop the river from flooding into the historical flood plains which nature has developed over centuries. 

As a part of the OTV Cares initiative, a team of OTV distributed essential items and relief materials in flood hit areas. The relief material was distributed to the people in flood-hit Rahangorada Panchayat under Gop block in Puri.

District Collectors of 10 flood-affected districts have been directed to make it sure that girls and women in flood-affected areas should get free sanitary pads.

Slamming the ruling BJD, the Parliamentarian said, “There are two types of solution – a temporary and a permanent one. Even after reigning for over 20 years, the Odisha government has miserably failed to make a permanent solution. They are only interested in temporary solutions."

It is a paradox that the state government keeps seeking huge centre assistance for relief and rehabilitation for Mahanadi flood but would not take up the Subalaya project which would bring permanent remedy.
