Seven people were involved in the killings and five of them were arrested yesterday.
Two more accused, Nitin and Deepak, both aged 30, were arrested around 4 am by the Crime Branch, the police said.
The killings were carried out with an intention to commit robbery and the mastermind of the plan was the security guard, who was killed by his son and son-in-law.
Jewellery worth Rs 30-40 lakh was robbed while cash amounted to Rs 14 lakh, they said.
The bodies of Urmila Jindal (82), her daughters Sangeeta Gupta (56), Nupur Jindal (48) and Anjali Jindal (38) and security guard Rakesh (42), were found with multiple stab wounds on the morning of October 7.
After thorough interrogation, the security guard's son- in-law Vikas had confessed to his involvement in the killings.
He was arrested, following which the guard's son Anuj (25), and their associates Sunny (22) Vikash alias Vicky and Neeraj (37), were also arrested.
The matter came to the fore after the 89-year-old woman identified as Dhala Bewa of Badabilasahi village under Kamakhyanagar block of the district intimated the matter to district Collector during a public hearing in the block.
On January 7, Bewa on the advice of two social workers went to Sarbeswar Memorial Eye Hospital for free of cost eye surgery. The doctors who operated her asked to open the bandage after seven days. However, after the bandage was removed from her eyes, she alleged that she could not see anything on one of her eye and also experienced blurry vision in her other eye.
Though Bewa visited the hospital multiple times for treatment, she alleged that it did not help regain her eyesight.
“Two girls took me to the hospital for the free operation. They took me to Cuttack thrice for operation and other treatment. I lost the sight of one of my eyes and I am worried for the other one as well,” alleged Bewa.
However, asked about the incident, district Collector Bhumesh Chandra Behera held Bewa and her family members responsible for the incident as they failed to get the post-surgery treatment in time which resulted in the mishap.

“Post the operation, she was prescribed some medical treatment. As she delayed getting the treatment, her one of the eyes got infected. However, vision of the other eye is still intact. We have sanctioned some money from Red Cross fund and will make arrangements for her further treatment. The administration will take steps so that similar incidents do not happen again,” stated Behera.
On the other hand, the hospital authorities or the doctors who operated on her are yet to comment on the matter.
