Union Minister Nitin Gadkari fainted at an election rally in Yavatmal, Maharashtra but recovered shortly and continued his campaign. He attributed the incident to the heat.
In February last year, 100 passengers got stranded in the middle of Chilika near Satapada while travelling in a floating bridge vessel. Reports claimed the vessel was on way from Satapada to Janhikuda when it developed a technical glitch.

According to sources, one Jayesh Pujari, a murder convict, was behind the threat calls. He was subsequently arrested from Belgavi jail in Karnataka. The Nagpur Police lodged a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against him
Gadkari acknowledged the rapid improvement in the tourism sector and cited the feedback received from the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, who reported a notable increase in tourist numbers compared to the previous year.

The calls were made from Hindalaga prison to the office of Gadkari in Nagpur city on March 21. The office has received three calls of threatening and extortion, the sources said.
Patnaik further pointed out that as many as 399 accidents have taken place during the last two years causing 196 fatalities. He added that there was public agitation and discontentment among the people for inordinate delay in completion of the road work.
At least three calls were received by Gadkari's private office in the city - between 11.30 a.m. - 12.30 p.m. - and the caller purportedly uttered the name of absconding mafia don Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar.

The MP pointed out how important the New Jagannath Sadak has been for Western and Southern Odisha as well as the States of Western India for connection with Puri and other coastal areas of Odisha.
