Out of the total 398 vigilance cases registered across the nation in 2021, Odisha Vigilance registered 92 cases.
In a written reply to a question raised by Congress MP Saptagiri Ulaka in the Parliament, Union Agriculture Minister had said there had been no farmer suicide incidents reported from Odisha in the year 2017, 18, 19 and 2020.
As per the NCRB data, 16,654 children have gone missing in the last six years. In fact, there has been a 42% rise in missing children cases in 2021 as compared to 2020.
The crime rate per 1 lakh women was 112.9 in 2020. In 2021, it rose to 137.8.
Among states, Uttar Pradesh had the highest number of inmates (1.06 lakh) followed by Bihar (51,849) and Madhya Pradesh (45,456), accounting for 22.1 per cent, 10.7 per cent, 9.4 per cent of the total inmates, respectively, it stated.
A report released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) last month, reveals that in Odisha crimes against women in 2020 rose nearly 10% over the previous year, one of the biggest spurts in the whole country.
In the case of murders, Kolkata recorded only 53 cases whereas Delhi recorded 461 cases -- the highest among all the cities followed by Bengaluru (179 cases), Chennai (150 cases) and Mumbai (148 cases)
The property plundered by dacoits totalled around Rs 119 crore. Moreover, with only a 50 per cent charge-sheeting rate, the recovery rate in the State also stood very low (around 28 per cent).
