Chief Justice N.V. Ramana on Friday termed the pendency of cases a huge challenge and expressed regret on not giving required attention to issues with listing of cases and schedule of hearing of matters.
Outgoing Chief Justice of India (CJI) N.V. Ramana on Thursday said he has discharged his duties as Chief Justice in whatever possible way, saying almost every name for the appointment as Delhi High Court judges has been cleared.
According to the convention, the CJI recommends the name of the senior-most judge as the successor. Justice Uday Umesh Lalit is next in seniority to Ramana.
The Chief Justice stressed the need to ensure proper judicial infrastructure, the problems created by media trial in judicial administration, future challenges of the judiciary and the importance of judicial review in protection of the Constitution.
The other petition was filed by activist Uchit Sharma against the high court decision.
