As per sources, six women including the girl’s stepmother tied her legs and beat her up and then when the girl screamed for help they allegedly branded her with hot iron.
The girl was later confined at her neighbour's house until Child Line officials rushed to the spot and rescued her.
The victim alleged, "I had gone for tailoring classes and I returned home at around 6.30 pm in the evening. By the time I reached home, they told they had searched for me in the locality thinking that I had gone missing. All the women brutally attacked me as soon as I reached home. No one else was there at home, my father and brother are outside for work."
The center coordinator of the Child Line, Hiranya Kumar Ray had lodged an FIR against the accused with the police. He said, "Childline rescued the girl and she has been admitted to MKCG medical college and hospital where she is undergoing treatment. Following her treatment, she named five persons who tied her legs and even strangulated her. She said she was branded with hot iron for over 30 minutes when she screamed for help."
Meanwhile, all the six women involved in the torture have been detained by police while further investigation into the incident is on, sources said.
The accused, who are women of the locality, have been booked under IPC sections 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 326 (causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), police said.
