Forest fires are also raging in various parts of Similipal sanctuary in Mayurbhanj. As many as 13 forests and some parts under the Talabandh and Dukura ranges have reported fires.

Madhabananda Nayak, a resident of Lamtaput in Koraput, alleged that most of the time they have to suffer due to undeclared power cuts by the distribution company. “Life has become miserable due to heat and power cuts,” he fumed. 

An unfortunate incident was reported from Muniguda in Rayagada. Law Minister and BJD candidate for Bissamcuttack, Jagannath Saraka was campaigning at Raghubari village on Sunday when a youth BJD leader accompanying him allegedly attacked one person and abused the villagers, who raised the issue of drinking water crisis in the area.

In a heartwarming gesture of going beyond the call of duty, a driver and another staffer of an ambulance on Tuesday, carried a pregnant woman for 3 kilometers after the vehicle failed to reach her village due to absence of a motorable road.

The ambulance staff earned praise from the family members of the pregnant woman and the villagers for their kind gesture.

As per reports, the girl student had not opened the door of her hostel room since Friday night. One of her classmates suspected something fishy. As she opened the door, she was shocked to see the body hanging from a ceiling fan.

The deceased was identified as Kiran Kumar Choudhry. He was engaged in Kumbhari panchayat office. He was staying alone in the official quarters. While the exact reason behind his death has not been ascertained, local people seek to know if the GRS has committed suicide or has been murdered. A pall of gloom descended on the area following his death. 

A similar accident was reported from Shankarpur under Ghagarabeda police limits of Mayurbhanj district. Three people who were going on separate bikes died while two others were critically injured. The injured were admitted to Champua hospital in Keonjhar,

Boipariguda Police reached the spot and started an inquiry into the incident.

These visuals are from Lopeta village under Bandhugaon block of Koraput district in Odisha. In the absence of proper road and transport facilities, a 108 ambulance driver was forced to carry a pregnant woman for 3km on a cot.
