With just two days to go for the much-awaited FIH Pro League, the women’s team of China, USA, Netherlands and Australia have arrived in Bhubaneswar and are undergoing their final preparations.

Determined Korea gave a stern reply to the defending champions in the first quarter.  However, Belgium came back strongly in the next quarter and earned back-to-back penalty corners in the 19th minute, but Korea defenders were agile enough to thwart both the scoring opportunities. The first half went goalless despite some ruthless attack by Belgium.

Odisha is all set to make history as Men's Hockey World Cup comes to the state for the second consecutive time. Hockey fever reached its zenith on Sunday (Dec 25) after the World Cup trophy 'landed' in the capital city to a grand welcome. Here's a sneak peek.

The trophy of FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 finally reached Bhubaneswar on December 25 ahead of the sport’s biggest event in Odisha from January 13.

Later, the World Cup Trophy will tour across all districts in the state before being taken to Sundargarh district, the ‘cradle of Indian Hockey’.

The peddling voyage will move to Koraput and again return to Bhubaneswar after covering a distance of 1,300 km across 10 districts.

The last leg of the tour will be in Rourkela before finally returning to Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar where the finals will be played on January 29, 2023, they said.

Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar plunged into darkness for around 15 minutes on Thursday.

At a time the state government is claiming that it is spending crores of rupees to improve infrastructure, the blackout has proved the tall claims of the government hollow.

Even as a day has passed since the assault of a photo journalist in broad daylight by a policeman outside Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, no action has been taken against the errant cop. Such inaction by the police has drawn sharp criticism from journalists who have demanded immediate arrest of the accused policeman.

Team India along with Spain and New Zealand have arrived in the city to participate in the tournament. India arrived here one day before Diwali and commenced their training at the Kalinga Stadium. With Chief Coach Graham Reid at the helm, the team looks confident and is leaving no stone unturned to put up a powerful performance.

India will now face Brazil on Monday, 17th October 2022.
