Banking services across the nation is likely to get affected on November 19 as members of the All India Bank Employees' Association (AIBEA) are reportedly planning to go on massive strike.

The members will strike work in protest against targeted victimisation of bankers for being active in the union.

For starters, Central Bank of India staffers shall strike work on May 30-31 to protest against large-scale shutting down of branches, bypassing employees in crucial decision-making processes, large-scale transfers, etc

The authorities of Utkal University and Rama Devi Women's University on Sunday announced postponement of all exams scheduled to be held on March 28 and 29 in view of the two-day nationwide strike called by joint platform of central trade unions and bank employees' forum.

The All India Bank Employees Association had on Saturday announced that it would observe two day's strike to oppose the move of the Central government.

About one lakh bank branches remain closed and some others headed by senior officials were kept open as they did not participate in the strike.

Members of the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) have announced to go on a two-day nation-wide strike from today (December 16) protesting Union Government’s proposal of privatization of nationalized banks and also the introduction of the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2021.

Owing to the stir, operations at the cheque clearing grids in Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi will be impacted and several thousands of crore worth of cheques would not be cleared.

The bank unions are against the privatisation of government owned banks.

UFBU has decided to oppose the move for privatisation, All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) General Secretary C H Venkatachalam said in a statement. Strike notice for December 16 and December 17, 2021, has been served by UFBU on the IBA, he said.
