Hyderabad: Out of the side for the past couple of years due to lack of form and injuries, all-rounder Irfan Pathan is now keen on making a comeback to the national team and says he will do everything to fulfill that goal.

Pathan, playing for Delhi Daredevils in the ongoing Indian Premier League, said his foremost aim always has been to play for the country.

“For me personal goal is I want to make a comeback to Indian team. My foremost aim is to play for the country and I will make sure that I will do everything to fulfil that dream,” Pathan told reporters after participating in the opening of a sports arena at Novotel Hyderabad Airport here.

After making batsmen hop with pace and swing early in his career, Pathan ran out of favour due to a prolonged decline in form, and injuries only made it worse for the left-arm seamer.

But now, things, he felt, are looking bright.

“I would like to contribute with bat and ball at the same time and I need to have bit more patience because I am playing cricket after a big lay-off.

Pathan said he was now feeling well about himself and with his bowling and batting and it was just matter of putting those things into performances.

“Due to injury I wasn’t playing cricket and that was frustrating but now I am happy that I am playing cricket and I am really enjoying my game,” he added.

“People who know cricket, know that I am heading towards right direction and that is very pleasing for me. The Sun is going to shine really bright in future because I can see and feel good about my bowling which wasn’t happening for the past 2-3 years. Once selectors think that I’m ready for the Indian team they will select me if they think I am important for the team,” Pathan said.
