Lonato: The Indian men's double trap team consisting of Md. Asab, Ankur Mittal and Sangram Dahiya won the bronze medal at the ISSF Shotgun World Championships here on Monday. This was India’s first medal at the championship.

The trio shot a combined score of 400 to pip hosts Italy, who finished fourth with a total of 398. The team from Great Britain won the gold medal with a score of 414 while Russia claimed the silver medal with a total of 406.

India's junior men's double trap team comprising Jaisal Singh, Shardul Vihan and Ahvar Rizvi finished fourth with a combined score of 372. Italy, Russia and China claimed the first three positions respectively in the event.

In the men’s individual double trap event, which had two Rio Olympic quota places up for grabs, Asab was the best Indian in qualifying, finishing 12th with a score of 135.

Ankur finished 16th with a score of 134 while Sangram ended in the 23rd position shooting a total of 131. The top six finishers qualify for the final in double trap.
