Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday congratulated the national team on their dramatic 237-run victory in the third Test against hosts the West Indies on Saturday. This enabled India take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the four-match series as the second Test ended in a draw.

Chasing an imposing 346-run target on the fifth and final day of the match, the West Indies collapsed for 108 in 47.3 overs during the post-lunch session at the Darren Sammy National Cricket stadium here on Saturday.

India had won first Test by an innings and 92 runs at Antigua on July 24 and ther West Indies drew the second Test at Kingston in Jamaica on August 4. The fourth Test will be played at Port of Spain from August 18-22.

The visitors, who had a 128-run lead from the first innings, declared their second innings after 48 overs in the first hour of the morning session.

BCCI President Anurag Thakur praised the Indian team, skipper Virat Kohli and head coach Anil Kumble for the country's rare Test series victory in the Caribbeans in the longest format of the game.

“On behalf of everyone in Indian cricket I would like to congratulate Team India on their series win in West Indies. This is a result of their dedicated effort, which has translated into a series of successful performances. I also congratulate Virat Kohli and Anil Kumble for this victory,” Thakur said in a release.

Mohammed Shami was the pick of the Indian bowlers with three wickets, while Ishant and Ravindra Jadeja shared two each. Bhuveneshwar Kumar and Ravichandran Ashwhin bagged one wicket each.

BCCI Secretary Ajay Shirke also said, “My hearty congratulations to the Indian Cricket team on the Test series win in the West Indies. The team can be very proud of what they have achieved.”
