Barcelona: FC Barcelona chief coach Luis Enrique has said renewing the contract of Argentine football maestro Lionel Messi is something that must be treated with calm.

At a press conference on Friday, Enrique said he is not going to get into a game of statements about the future of the forward, the latest made by the director of institutional relations at Barcelona, Pere Gratacos, reports Efe.

Gratacos said that without Neymar, Luis Suarez, Andres Iniesta, Gerard Pique and the others, Messi would not be such a good player.

Enrique said that Messi is the best and the club has been pretty clear about what it thinks about the Argentine, so people should not be looking at quotes and trying to make a story out of them.

The coach returned to refer to Messi to highlight his effectiveness in free kicks.

"Leo almost doesn't even need to practice free kicks. He can do it from any angle, at any height, and from either side. It's just one more part of his repertoire," he said.
