Erode: A 15-year-old female elephant was found dead in the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border at Burgur forest area on Thursday. According to forest officials, the villagers of the area noticed the body of the 15-year-old female elephant in the forest area.

Veterinary officials, who rushed to the spot, said the elephant might have been dead due to thirst, as there was water scarcity in the area.

After postmortem, the elephant was buried,the officials said.
