Bhubaneswar: With just a day to go for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Odisha, Union Agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh arrived in the State on Saturday morning.

During his visit to the state, Singh will attend an agriculture review meeting to be held at Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) today.

Besides, he will also hold discussions with party officials today and is scheduled to visit Bargarh tomorrow.

Singh is also scheduled to hold discussions with state Agriculture minister Pradeep Maharathy over drought assistance for Odisha.

Notably on January 6, the Centre had approved Rs 815 crore as drought assistance to Odisha, which reeled under a spate of farmer suicides over crop loss and indebtedness induced by a prolonged dry spell in the last kharif season. But later, it decided to reduce the drought assistance by Rs 214 crore.

A discussion in this regard is likely to be held between the duo.
