Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police on Friday rescued the minor girl from Keonjhar abducted from Bargarh area here four days ago. The girl has now been reunited with her parents.

According to sources, the police has also detained the couple who abducted the minor girl and is interrogating them.
“We rescued her (abducted girl) from a rented house in Keonjhar. We have also arrested the couple who had kidnapped the girl,” Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrat Bhoi said.

Asked if the case could be seen from trafficking angle, Bhoi said, “It could be a case of trafficking but the exact reason behind the incident could be known after interrogation of the couple. As of now, it is proved that she is rescued from their possession.”

On Thursday, the parents of the kidnapped girl met police commissioner and demanded immediate rescue of their daughter.

Acting on their complaint, two teams of Commissionerate Police raided various places at Keonjhar and rescued the minor girl.

Notably, a couple who were residing at the girl’s house on rent had abducted her. A complaint in this regard was registered with police on February 8.

Talking to OTV after her return, the abducted girl said the couple had asked her to accompany them saying her father had sent a message asking her to come.

They first took her to Cuttack and from there to Keonjhar where they kept her in a hotel room for a day before shifting to a rented accommodation in the town, the girl said.

During her stay in Keonjhar, the man was talking about taking her to Bengaluru, she added.
