Bhubaneswar: President of the Odisha Youth Congress, Lokanath Maharathy today said that its members will oppose the visit of BJP national president Amit Shah to the State.

Maharathy stated Shah will be opposed wherever he goes in the State as he has played with the emotions of the people of the State.

“Amit Shah who has been playing with the emotions of the people of Odisha is visiting the state frequently. We demand resolution of the Mahanadi issue at the earliest. Besides, he has not kept his promise of providing jobs to two crore youths and bringing back black money to the country.”

However, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief Niranjan Patnaik expressed his displeasure and feigned ignorance about party's plans of protesting Shah's visit.

"It's the duty of the president of a national party to campaign for the party, why should we oppose? I am unaware about who took the decision," said Patnaik.

Reacting to the development, senior BJP leader Pratap Sarangi said “If Congress would oppose Amit Shah’s visit, we would be a happier lot. What Congress says doesn't matter to us.”

BJP’s National President Amit Shah is scheduled to visit the State on July 1 to review party affairs.
