Woman, daughter die in wall collapse incident in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: A woman and her daughter died after a wall of their house collapsed on them following heavy rain at Dengisargi village of Sambalpur district late on Saturday night.

The deceased duo has been identified as Chahala Pradhan and her daughter Bhagya. Two other family members who sustained injuries in the incident have been admitted to Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). Their condition is said to be stable.

"The incident occurred at around 1 pm while we were slept in the house," said deceased Chahala's another daughter.

"My grandson, nephew and my brother-in-law were sleeping in one side of the house while my sister and her daughter were sleeping on another side when the mishap occurred," said the deceased woman's sister.

On being informed, additional tehsildar and other officials of district administration rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation. Meanwhile, the bereaved family have been granted Rs 10, 000 from the Red Cross fund.
