Woman alleges rape in Dhanupali; 1 arrested

Sambalpur: In a shocking incident, a married woman was allegedly raped in Dhaupali at evening hours yesterday.

In her police complaint, the victim said she and her cousin brother were in Sambalpur town for shopping at around 7 pm. But near Dhanupali square she was kidnapped by three persons at knife point in a car. Later, she was raped at a secluded place, the complainant added.

The woman hails from Atthamalick area in Angul district and had gone to Sambalpur to her relative’s place.

Though the local police have arrested one person, others involved in the crime are still on the run.
