Balasore: The carcass of a headless whale measuring 42 feet was today found at Chandipur sea shore in Balasore district.

According to fisheries department officials who rushed to inspect the spot, "The sea whale might have migrated to the Bay of Bengal from Indian Ocean and died due to a direct hit with a ship".

The species is rarely found in the Bay of Bengal region, they said.

The carcass was washed ashore due to high tide at Chandipur point and because of shallowness of the beach here, officials said.
