Bhubaneswar: A considerable drop in temperature was recorded in Odisha on Sunday after Nor’wester (locally known as Kalabaisakhi) rain lashed several parts of the state yesterday.

According to MeT office, there will be hail shower along with rain at some places of the Northern and Southern parts of the state.

Gusty winds reaching up to a speed of 50 to 60 km/hr will prevail along several districts including Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal, Angul and Dhenkanal.

"Excluding one or two places, day temperatures will fall across the state from Sunday. Similar weather conditions will continue till May 4," said an official of Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar.

It has issued thunderstorm alert for 15 districts including Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Gajapati, Angul, Rayagada, Kandhamal & Dhenkanal.

Subsequently, the temperature is expected to increase from May 5.

Earlier, several parts of Odisha reeled under intense heat wave conditions with temperature crossing 40 degree Celsius mark in 5 cities with Sonepur recording the highest temperature of 42.8 degree yesterday.
