Bhubaneswar: Odisha had proposed the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to deploy more forces in Kandhamal and Nuapada district, said DGP Sanjeev Marik here.

The statement of DGP came after two days of CRPF DG’s announcement that the paramilitary force will withdraw its personnel from some areas of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Ganjam districts and make more deployment in Sunabeda forest in Nupada district.

“On the basis of intelligence reports regarding naxal activities, the state police usually deploy its personnel as well as central forces in different districts,” Marik said.

CRPF DG is going to implement the proposal which was given to the force earlier, he added.

“We had asked them to send more men to Sunabeda forest. Talks at the IG level were also done,” Marik elaborated.

Initially, the CRPF did not accept the proposal that was given to them earlier, said he adding that four months back the some paramilitary men were sent to the area.
