Bhubaneswar: Polling for elections to eight civic bodies in the State ended this evening and reports said around 72 per cent voting was recorded. Dharmagarh witnessed the highest 80 per cent polling and Paradip the lowest at 53 per cent, the report added.

The polling for Paradip, Belapur and Sunabeda municipalities and Dharmasala, Redhakhol, Tusra, Balimela and Daspalla Notified Area Councils (NACs) began at 8 am and concluded at 5 pm.

According to State Election Commissioner Rabi Narayan Senapati, “Of the total 183 booths, 115 were identified as sensitive and 18 as highly-sensitive. Hence, CCTV cameras were installed at these booths to ensure smooth polling.”

Counting would begin tomorrow morning and the results will be declared later on the day.
