Villagers torch house, shop of 'murder accused'

Boudh: A day after a man was allegedly murdered during Sital Sasthi Yatra in Manamunda of Boudh district; an irate mob today torched the house and shop of one Charan Meena alleging his involvement in the crime.

The villagers set the house and shop of Meena on fire suspecting him to be one of the accused in the murder of Bhimsen Sethi during the yatra last night. Besides, the locals blocked NH-57 near Manamunda by placing the body of Sethi and demanded compensation for the family of the deceased.

Later, Police reached the spot and pacified the agitating locals following which the road blockade was withdrawn.

Sources said the outrage was triggered by the fact that the four accused in the murder of Sethi are still absconding.

Police have launched a probe into the matter and efforts are on to nab the accused, informed sources.
