Paradip: Two persons, including a woman, were crushed to death and 10 others injured when a loaded truck ploughed through a gathering in  Jagatsinghpur district early today, police said.

The incident took place near Teramanapur village when the speeding iron ore-laden truck ran over the huge crowd that had assembled to witness a festival. The truck sped away after the mishap, the police said.

The irate villagers erected a road blockade following the mishap and a large number of vehicles were stranded on both sides of the Cuttack-Paradip road.

Around 150 police personnel along with magistrates and top officials were camping at the site, the sources said adding efforts were on to trace the vehilce and arrest its driver.
