Bhubaneswar/Rayagada: Truckers and members of several labour unions staged protest near Ambadala station on Saturday against the non-transport of coal and bauxite by trucks. Hunderds of agitators sat on rail track and shouted slogans against the authorities of Vedant Alumina who they alleged violated the agreement on transport of minerals to the plant site in Lanjigarh.

The protestors said that the company’s decision to transport the minerals by train has affected the livelihood of thousands of dependants and their families. They demanded the company should agree the unloading of goods at nearby Dahikhal from where those would be transported by trucks.
