Bhubaneswar: In a major respite from severe hot conditions, the Meteorological department here today predicted most parts of Odisha including coastal and interior areas are likely to witness thunder squall within next 24 hours.

Thundershowers accompanied by hailstorms will lash Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Puri districts and the climatic situation is likely to continue till April 27, the met department added.

The change in weather will be due to a trough line hovering over Odisha, said the department adding, however, the day temperature is likely to rise from April 28.

Notably, under the effect of north westerly wind and clear sky, the mercury soared in most of the districts of the State in past few days. In Talcher, yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 43.2 deg Celsius.
