Berhampur: Arrested ex-Congress MLA from Sanakhemundi Ramesh Jena was produced before the Aska Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) here on Wednesday in connection with a tender fixing case.

According to sources, police prayed the court to take Jena on five-day remand for further interrogation.

The ex-legislator was implicated in a tender fixing case filed against him at Aska police station on February 24.

Aska police had appealed to the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM), Aska for a fresh remand to initiate investigation into the various tender fixing allegations against Jena.

On Tuesday, Jena was produced before the SDJM court here for his alleged involvement in illegal guthka business, both in Vizag and in the Silk City.

Notably on Friday, Berhampur police had registered a case against the ex-Sanakhemundi legislator and five others, including his father, for their alleged involvement in guthka business.
