Teacher beats students for refusing to sweep

Angul: Five girl students of Kueo primary school under Banarpal block of the district were beaten up by a teacher for refusing to sweep school premises.

Source said the teacher Soubhagini Majhi asked the Class-V students to sweep the floors during prayer class. But some students declined to obey the instruction, following which an enraged Majhi hit the five students.

Parents of the students admitted them to the district headquarters hospital in Angul for treatment. The district sub-collector has assured of strict action against the teacher after a probe.
