Cuttack: The nation on January 23, 2011 celebrates the 104th birth anniversary of the country’s one of the most prominent freedom fighters, Subash Chandra Bose. Netaji Birthplace Museum at Janakinath Bhawan, the freedom fighter’s ancestral residence in Oriya Bazar area in Cuttack is being refurbished on the eve of this auspicious occasion.

Tourists, historians and students from and out of the state flock to this place to know about the early life of our beloved Netaji.

The renovation work of the museum that has been going on in a full pace has reached the final lap. The museum administration has renovated the museum and painted the walls, doors, windows and the Janakinath Bhawan with colours.

“We felt good after visiting the museum. We came to know many things about Netaji’s life. We will definitely visit the museum on his birthday anniversary after the renovation work is complete,” a tourist from Rajasthan Simran Saini said.

All the 13 galleries of the museum have been cleanly mopped. This apart, various flower plants have been planted in the garden inside the museum premises.

A debate competition is going to be organized on the eve of Netaji’s birth anniversary.

“We will perform a yajna at around 12:15 pm on the eve of his birth anniversary. We will also organize a school level debate competition both in junior and senior categories on that day,” said Jyoti Prakash Das, Incharge of Netaji Birthplace Museum.
