Bhubaneswar: Frequent flyers to and from the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here are in for a special treat this Raja. The Airport authorities are soon coming up with an array of authentic traditional Odia food that can be tasted or carried home from a special outlet at the terminal.

A spread of delicious Odia cuisines starting from variety of Pithas (pancakes) to sweet dishes like Manda and Kakara and an elaborate menu of typical delicacies of the state will be made available to the passengers at the outlet.

The new food and beverage outlet being constructed at the Terminal-1 of the airport will serve a rich repertoire of culinary and cultural heritage of the State. The construction work of the outlet is being expedited so that it gets completed before Raja. Once the outlet is opened the passengers can savour authentic Odia food here

The outlet also plans to serve foods and delicacies corresponding to different occasions and festivals being celebrated in Odisha.

"It is great to know about this outlet. I hope it caters to the needs of middle class people who otherwise avoid eating costly food at airports,' said a passenger Debaprasad Das.

It will  have a veg-plate for Rs 80 and a tea cup for Rs 5 in its menu- a happy news for travellers looking for affordable food options at the airport.

"In fact it is more important that people who do not belong to Odisha should get to know the food habit and culture of the State," Das opined.

Named as 'Zambar- flavours of the South will serve only vegetarian food, the Director informed adding that the construction work is being carried out by Lite Bite Food Private Limited.
