Bhubaneswar: The Justice MB Shah Commission, appointed by the Government of India to probe into illegal mining in Odisha is set to visit the state for third time today. During its 12-day visit, the probe panel will scrutinize documents of 99 mines, sources said. The UV Singh led six member team in their second visit in the first week of this month had vetted papers of 93 mines, informed sources.

According to state officials, the team soon after their arrival here would leave for Barbil and Keonjhar where they will meet district officials. The panel would visit Koida mines tomorrow. After completing their field visit, members of the panel will go through the files.

Meanwhile, the Shah Commission has sought opinion from the state government on export ban or restriction on mining of iron ore, volumetric mining of minerals and pollution measures by mining lease holders.

Last December, the Shah Commission had visited mines at Keonjhar area.
