Aandpur: Anandpur Municipality vice-chairperson Sandhyarani Behera today lost the no trust motion moved against her by 10 councillors after 12 members in the 16-member civic body voted against her.

Voting on the no-confidence motion started at 10.15 am. Three Congress members, five BJD and four independent councillors took part while four others, including the chairperson of the civic body, abstained from voting.

Anandpur Sub Collector Maheswar Swain oversaw the voting.

The 10 disgruntled members had moved the motion against her alleging highhandedness.

10 councillors—Suresh Sahu (Independent), Nilamani Das (BJD), Rashmita Sahu (Congress), Susamarani Rana (Independent), Biswabhusan Mallick (BJD), Jharanarani Sahu (Congress), Atul Chandra Behera (BJD), Dushasan Nayak (Independent), Subhadra Dehuri (BJD) and Ashutosh Puhana (Congress)—had submitted a written complaint to district collector N Thirumala Naik last month seeking a no-confidence motion against Behera.

Notably, the Anandpur Municipality has 16 councillors comprising six councillors from BJD, three from Congress and seven Independent members.
