Rath Yatra 2018: District administration reviews preparedness

 Puri: The Puri district administration today organised a special meeting to review the progress of work undertaken by various departments ahead of the upcoming annual Rath Yatra.

According to sources, the orientation meeting chaired by District Collector Arabind Agrawal discussed several key issues such as drainage, water and sanitation facilities ahead of the mega event. Officials of different departments shared various problems faced by the staff while executing the plans on ground and discussed strategies to resolve them, informed sources.

Special focus was laid on expediting the drainage work in areas close to the sea beach. Executive Officer of the Puri Municipality Shrikant Tarei informed that pumps will be installed at the Badadanda to solve the problem.

“After the recent problems faced by everyone due to waterlogging we are making adequate arrangements ahead of Rath Yatra in Puri,” said Tarei.

The Standard Operating Procedures to be followed by the different departments were also discussed threadbare, added sources.

“After getting inputs from different departments, a district level Standard Operating Procedure will be put in place,” Additional Collector of Puri Bibhuti Bhushan said.
