Bolangir: Rail traffic was affected briefly on Bolangir-Kantabanji section of East Coast Railway (ECoR) following rail-roko agitation by Bolangir Action Committee demanding establishment of the proposed railway wagon factory at Kantabanji.

A large number of slogan shouting people including women, squatted as a token protest on the railway tracks from 9.30 am to 10 am. As a result Sambalpur-Rayagada Express train was detained.

Claiming that the Railway Minister Mamata Banarjee had announced establishment of a wagon factory in the railway budget proposals this year, Pramod Kumar Mishra, convenor of the committee said she had given the option to identify the place of location of the factory to Orissa government.

Meanwhile, in reply to an application under RTI, Railway authorities had informed the applicant that out of 125 acres of unused railway land at Kantabaji, 50 acres had been earmarked for establishment of the railway wagon factory, Mishra claimed.

"However, there seems to be a conspiracy to take away the proposed project to coastal Orissa. We would`t allow it to happen", he said.
