Puri: The Jagannath temple administration here on Friday decided to do away with proposed tendering process to award telecast rights of the forthcoming Car festival.

With this decision, sole telecast rights wouldn’t be limited to any television channel thereby giving fair opportunity to the broadcaster to cover the famous Car festival this year.

After dithering over the issue, the chief administrator of the temple informed this to mediapersons here today. This step has been taken to reach out to larger audience and popularize Jagannath culture across the globe.

“We won’t put any restriction on telecast of Rath yatra festival this year. We would also not go with proposed tendering process which would give exclusive rights to any channel. Today a meeting was held on this. The mediapersons have been asked to submit a list of their requirements regarding telecast which will be jointly sorted out by SP and district collector,” temple chief administrator Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra said.
