Prof Pradipta Kumar Dash bags Biju Patnaik award

The award, comprising Rs Two lakh and a citation, has been instituted by the Orissa Bigyan Academy of the state government.

Prof Dash, now Director (Research and Consultancy) at Siksha O Anusandhan (SOA) Deemed to be University?s Multidisciplinary Research Cell, had earlier received the state-instituted?Samanta Chandrasekhar Award in Engineering in 1990 for his contribution to scientific research.

Prof Dash had worked as a Professor at the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela for nearly three decades.

Widely travelled, he also served as visiting research engineer with ABB, Switzerland, Visiting Professor at the National University of Singapore several times between 1993 and 1997 and at the University of Telecom, Kuala Lumpur during 2001-03.

His areas of research included Power Engineering, Automation and Intelligent Systems, Applied Computer Sciences and Data Mining and Signal Processing.
