Bhubaneswar: Three days after Cuttack-Choudwar MLA Pravat Biswal was grilled by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for his alleged links with Seashore CMD Prashant Dash, the lawmaker on Monday said that the interrogation was about a piece of land of his wife in Jajpur district which the Dash wanted to purchase.

Talking to reporters in Cuttack Biswal said, “My wife had a piece of land measuring 32 ‘gunthas’ at Benapur village in Jajpur district, which the Seashore group had agreed to purchase in 2011 for Rs 29.25 lakh.”

In April next year, the company had given two cheques of Rs 15 and Rs 10 lakh in favour of the land owner.
“After receiving the money against land, we had furnished the sale deed and only the registration part was left,” Pravat’s wife Laxmi Bilasini Biswal said.

But everything changed after the May 29 coup bid by Rajya Sabha MP Pyari Mohan Mohapatra, she continued.

“The company showed its unwillingness after the incident and asked to return the money he had given us against the Benapur land. We cleared his amount in July,” Laxmi said adding they are yet to receive their money receipt.

However sources at the central agency said, it is still unclear whether the lawmaker has returned the agreement amount to Dash.
