Bhubaneswar: BJD MLA Pravat Biswal was today discharged from the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre at Vasant Kunj area in New Delhi where he was undergoing treatment.

The senior leader will spend a few more days in the national capital before returning to Odisha.

"I feel much better now. I will be at the Odisha Niwas here for a few more days and later return to Odisha," Biswal informed media persons.

Earlier this month, Biswal was discharged from the SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack where he was undergoing treatment since September 25, and shifted to AIIMS in New Delhi for better treatment.

Biswal was earlier arrested on September 19, 2017 by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for his alleged involvement in the multi-crore Seashore chit fund scam.

However days after his arrest, he was admitted to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar following his illness and later shifted to SCBMCH after his condition deteriorated on September 25.

Notably, the Orissa High Court on July 3, 2018 had granted bail to Biswal against cash security of Rs 20 lakh and two sureties of Rs 5 lakh each.
