Bhubaneswar: Eminent Odia singer and musician Prafulla Kar will be felicitated with Padma Shri award- the fourth highest civilian award in the Republic of India, this year.

Born in 1939 into a family of musicians, Kar had shown early promise as a singer at home in Puri. His father’s elder brother Khetra Mohan Kar was a renowned Tabla player, who could bring down the artistes of national repute like Hirabai Barodekar, Maitra, & Malabika Kanan and many others as family friends to their home.

Hence since childhood, this adorable child of Baidyanath and Susila Kar had the opportunity to listen to such veterans and music started flowing in his blood at a tender age.
