Bhubaneswar: Today is the first total lunar eclipse of 2015. The eclipse which would be visible partly in Odisha today will start at around 2:31 PM and will be total at 5.27 PM.

The eclipse will remain so until 5.32 PM. Thereafter, the partial eclipse will last up to 7.15 PM. As it will not have any effect on Odisha it can been seen with the naked eye.

The moonrise in the State will be around 6 pm and by that time the totality will end but a partial eclipse will be visible during this period which will end around 7.15 PM. The duration of the totality will be very short compared to other total lunar eclipses.

It will last just four and half minutes or so which will make it the shortest total lunar eclipse of the 21st century. Meanwhile special arrangements have been made at Pathani Samanta Palnetorium in Bhubaneswar to view the lunar eclipse
