Bhubaneswar: A panel of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) led by Murli Manohar Joshi is scheduled to visit Odisha on November 2 to examine the procedure followed by the state government in allocating coal blocks in the state.

According to sources, the panel will scrutinize alleged irregularities in block allocation based on the findings of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG).  

“The panel will visit the mining areas of Coal India” chief secretary BK Patnaik told reporters here.

Earlier this month, the Justice MB Shah Commission during their second visit to the state scrutinized 81 files out of a total of 181 mining leases. The probe panel led by U V Singh, additional principal conservator of forests, Karnatak government will visit the state on October 31 and take up field visits of Koira sector in Sundergarh district.
