OTV IMPACT: Excise constable caught on camera with drug peddlers suspended

Bhubaneswar:  A day after he was caught on camera striking a deal with drug peddlers, constable of the Excise Department Biswambar Biswal was placed under suspension today.

Confirming the development, Khurda Collector Nirmal Chandra Mishra informed that the constable has been placed under suspension based on prima facie evidence though inquiry is pending.

“Already Excise Superintendent and Bhubaneswar ADM have started an inquiry and appropriate action will be taken based on their findings,” said Mishra.

The inquiry by Excise department and district administration was launched after OTV in a report telecast yesterday had shown Biswal trying to strike a deal with some drug peddlers inside his office.

The accused constable was also seen smoking and drinking with some alleged drug peddlers.

However, the accused constable Biswambar Biswal had refuted the allegations levelled against him yesterday.

“I had gone there for some other work on a senior staff’s order,” Biswal had said.
