Bhubaneswar: Even as water level in major rivers in Kalahandi, Balangir, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Rayagada and Kandhamal districts has started receding since last night, the situation in these areas has remained grim as many villages are still marooned.
Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) team has reached flood-hit area of Kalahandi to assist in relief and rescue operation. Balichhada, Biripur, Matikhal villages in Kalampur block and Kotenga in Junagad block have been severely affected due low pressure induced heavy rains. The road communication between Bhwanipatana and Balangir on NH-26 has been disrupted as the water on the road is still to be receded.
Meanwhile, the Metrological department said five districts – Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Rayagada and Kandhamal have received more the 100 milimeter rainfall in the last 24 hours.
