Police Housing scam: 2 officials’ houses raided
Bhubaneswar: Intensifying its probe into alleged financial irregularities in Odisha State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation (OPHWC), a team of Vigilance sleuths today conducted raids at OPHWC’s Bhawanipatna division joint manager Achutananda Routray’s residence in Mahanadi Vihar and deputy manager Prashant Panigrahi’s house in Cuttack in the early hours.
According to sources, a five member team of the probe agency conducted raid Routray’s residence at 5 am and laid their hands on many documents relating to the scam.
Besides, the sleuths also conducted simultaneous raids at Routray’s two other houses located at Nischinta Koili and Balasore district.
Similarly, another team of the agency raided the OPHWC deputy manager Prashant Panigrahi’s house in Tulsipur area in connection with the alleged scam.
Notably, on Wednesday, the Vigilance department had registered seven criminal cases against officials of the OPHWC Bhawanipatna Division for alleged misappropriation to the tune of Rs 10.27 crore in execution of different works and registered cases against the corporation’s joint manager Achyutananda Routray, junior assistant Bishnu Charan Behera and clerk Mahabir Das.
The irregularities took place between 2009 and 2014. Bungling have been detected in 38 projects spread across Kalahandi, Subarnapur, Nuapada and Bolangir police stations along with construction of Fire Stations and barracks.
