Baripada: An unknown deadly disease is spreading panic on the foothills of Similipal wildlife sanctuary here.
In village Balama the situation continues to worsen with the deadly disease is spreading rapidly. The disease has already taken its toll on the livestock of the village.
Eight heads of cow and more than hundred pigs have been claimed by the disease.
After reports, a team of doctors from Similipal tiger conservation project and wildlife trust of India have visited the spot to investigate the disease.
Last December, an elephant was killed after affected by anthrax in the Dukura range of the sanctuary. Keeping this in mind and studying the symptoms of recent deaths, wildlife experts have opined that possibility of anthrax cannot be ruled out.
