Uncertainties over classes at IIM-Sambalpur
Bhubaneswar: Beginning of classes at IIM-Sambalpur is in uncertainties as only 12 seats have been filled up out of total 60. Above all, five students, who have taken admission in the B-school, are now not showing interest to come to Sambalpur.
Source said IIM-Indore, mentor of IIM-Sambalpur, is not keen to begin classes in the B-school in the western part of the State with so less students.
Meanwhile, a high-level meeting which was scheduled to be held tomorrow to find a solution, has been postponed till September 10.
Out of six newly-set up IIMs, classes have been started at Nagpur, Amritsar and Buddhgaya whereas the B-schools in Vishakapatnam, Sambalpur and Shree Murar are yet begin classes.
Experts are of the opinion that students, who have taken admission at IIM-Sambalpur, should be allowed to take classes at IIM-Indore while steps should be taken to improve infrastructure of the location where the B-school has been decided to be set up.
Paschimanchal Peoples’ Forum For IIM adviser Aditya Padhee demanded relaxation of cut-off mark in CAT and recounselling for IIM-Sambalpur.
